StudyPug Learning is a 25-year-old BC company. We have helped close to 10,000 students, and 96% go on to post-secondary. Our French classes are taught by locally licensed French teachers and built around the French curriculum used by local Canadian school districts. Online and in person.
The StudyPug online learning platform has served millions of students and is used by school districts across Canada.

French is one of Canada's two official languages, and for a student in BC it is not a standalone hobby subject. It runs from Core French in school, through French Immersion, up into IB French and AP French, then into university French courses — and, for adults, into the TEF B2 exam used for Canadian immigration.
We teach every stage on that line. One levelling standard, one team of locally licensed French teachers. A student who starts with school French and later needs exam French does not have to change providers or get re-assessed from scratch.
What the parent sees: French support that follows the student from a report-card grade to the exam or application that actually depends on it.
Before a student joins a class we place them by level, combining their school French grade with a French placement test — current ability, not year of birth.
What the parent sees: regular testing and feedback, so you know where your child’s French actually is.
Seven courses, covering every French course we run — placed by level, taught by locally licensed French teachers.
One of our signature French courses, developed by language specialists against the French curriculum of the local school boards. Students learn the basics of French grammar and standard pronunciation, build vocabulary, and start systematic work across listening, speaking, reading, writing and vocabulary - the beginnings of thinking in French and of a study habit.
One of our signature French courses, written by language specialists from the French curriculum of the local school boards. The base is consolidated while listening, speaking, reading and writing are built up in step and vocabulary widens further, so a student develops a system for French and can use it across the board.
One of our signature French courses, timetabled by language specialists against the French curriculum of the local school boards. Students sharpen their French, start to think in the language, widen their vocabulary, learn efficient listening and reading technique, and strengthen how they express themselves in speech and in writing.
One of our signature French courses, designed by language specialists from the senior French curriculum of the school boards. Students pull the whole of their French together, develop something close to a native speaker's instinct, work on idiomatic speaking and writing as well as listening and reading technique, and strengthen their command of the language overall.
Our signature adult French training, designed by local teachers with years of French teaching behind them. Students start from pronunciation and grammar and finish the course with around 1,000 words of French and the ability to use them - enough for everyday and travel conversation.
Our signature adult French training, designed by local teachers with years of French teaching behind them. Vocabulary widens to around 2,000 words and the basic grammar and tenses become second nature, so a student can put a point across in an orderly way.
Our signature adult French training, designed by local teachers with years of French teaching behind them. Vocabulary goes to around 3,000 words, listening and reading technique and comprehension improve, and students use vocabulary and the full range of tenses fluently in speech and in writing.
Our signature adult French training, designed by local teachers with years of French teaching behind them. Vocabulary widens to 4,000-5,000 words, advanced vocabulary and sentence patterns are used with precision, the cultural context becomes familiar, and communication in French becomes confident.
Small classes. Places are limited. Whether you are just starting to think about French classes or your child is already in French tutoring and needs extra support, our French course teachers will build the plan around your child.

Yes. French Immersion school-course support is one of our named courses, built to the local school district's French Immersion curriculum, and the graded French Levels 1-4 program covers school French more broadly — listening and speaking, writing, reading, vocabulary and cultural background.
We combine two things: your child's French grade at school, and a French placement test we run before the first class. That gives a level rather than a guess, and the level moves as the student's ability moves. We do not place by year of birth.
Both. The same courses run online and in person, and the in-person location is 5831 Cedarbridge Way #102, Richmond, BC V6X 2A8. One-on-one private lessons and small-group classes are both available; small-group places are limited.
Yes — IB French (IB Programme-French), IB Diploma French (IB Diploma Programme-French) and AP French (AP French Course Language and Culture) are each taught as their own course, by locally licensed French teachers, alongside the student's school schedule.
Yes. We run French TEF exam preparation at the B2 level for Canadian immigration, taught by locally licensed French teachers who work with adult French exam content and drill the exam's own question types.
Two ways: regular testing with feedback, and parent meetings on a regular cycle where the teacher goes through how your child is doing, the learning goal, the plan, and how to support it at home.
The teachers and tutors here are genuinely professional, and the courses are very detailed. My child's grades improved noticeably after tutoring here. There is a physical tutoring centre and online classes too — I'd recommend both.
