You will learn about the value of money and how different coins are worth different amounts. Understanding money helps you buy things you need and want. You will practice counting using money to make smart choices about spending and saving.
Understanding Coin Values
You will learn that each coin has a special value. A penny is worth one cent. A nickel is worth five cents. A dime is worth ten cents. A quarter is worth twenty-five cents.
You can trade coins for other coins that have the same value. Ten pennies equal one dime. Five pennies equal one nickel. Twenty-five pennies equal one quarter.
Counting and Comparing Money
You will practice adding coins together to find how much money you have. When you want to buy something, you compare your money to the price. If you have enough money, you can make the purchase.
You will learn that when you spend money, you have less left over. When you earn money by selling things, you have more money to save or spend on basic needs and personal wants.
