Discover What Makes All People Similar and Connected

You will learn how all people share the same basic needs, feelings, and activities, even when they look different from each other.

Introduction

You will discover amazing things about how all people are alike! Even when people look different or come from different places, you share many important things with them. You have the same basic needs, enjoy similar activities, and feel the same happy emotions. Learning about similarities among people helps you make friends and understand your community better.

Basic Needs We All Share

You need food to grow big and strong, just like every person in the world. You need a safe home to live in, and so does everyone else. You need to play and have fun, which is something all children love to do.

When you see other families eating together, they are meeting the same need for food that your family has. All people need water, shelter, and love from their families. These basic needs connect you to people everywhere, even if they live in different houses or eat different foods.

Shared Activities and Feelings

You love to play on swings and slides at the playground. Other children love these same activities too! You laugh when something is funny, and people everywhere laugh at funny things. You feel happy when you help others, just like being a good classmate makes everyone feel good.

When you see children from different families playing together, they are showing how people enjoy the same games. You might use different tools to eat your food, but everyone needs to eat. You and your friends might look different, but you all like story time and giggle at the same jokes.

Community Helpers and Shared Purpose

You will meet many community helpers who all share one important thing - they help people! Firefighters, teachers, and bakers all work to make life better for others. Just like you help clean up toys in your classroom, grown-ups help in their own special ways.

These helpers show you how working together makes communities strong. Even though they have different jobs, they all care about helping people stay safe, learn new things, and have what they need.
