Introduction
You use special words every day to talk about the world around you! Nouns are naming words that help you talk about people, animals, places, and things. Action Words or verbs tell what someone or something does. When you put these words together, you can make Complete Sentences that tell whole stories!
What Are Nouns?
Nouns are words you use to name things you can see and touch. You can find nouns everywhere around you! When you look at your classroom, you see books, chairs, and desks - these are all nouns.
There are different types of nouns you use every day. You use nouns to name people like mom, dad, teacher, and friend. You use nouns to name animals like dog, cat, bird, and frog. You also use nouns to name places like home, school, park, and garden.
What Are Verbs?
Verbs are action words that show what people, animals, or things do. When you run, jump, play, or eat, you are doing actions! These action words help you tell what is happening in your stories.
You use verbs to tell about all kinds of actions. Some verbs show big movements like runs, jumps, and slides. Other verbs show quiet actions like sits, watches, and sleeps. Every time you want to tell what someone does, you need a verb!

Using Nouns and Verbs Together
When you put nouns and verbs together, you make sentences that tell complete ideas! You can say "The dog runs" or "Children play." The noun tells you who or what, and the verb tells you what they do.
You can practice this by looking around your room. Pick a noun like "bird" and add a verb like "flies." Now you have "The bird flies!" This helps you share your thoughts with others.
