About the ASVAB Electronics Information subtest
Electronics Information (EI) is one of the ten subtests on the ASVAB — the U.S. military's enlistment aptitude test. It measures your knowledge of electricity and electronics: current, circuits, components and how they work together. EI isn't part of your AFQT, but it feeds the line (composite) scores the services use to qualify you for electronics, avionics and technical jobs. This free ASVAB Electronics Information practice test mirrors the real subtest, with a step-by-step video solution for every question so a wrong answer turns into a lesson.
What does ASVAB Electronics Information cover?
On the CAT-ASVAB, Electronics Information is 15 scored questions in 10 minutes. Questions test electrical concepts (current, voltage, resistance and Ohm's law), circuits (series and parallel), electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes and transistors), and safety, symbols and wiring. StudyPug covers all of these with adaptive practice and video lessons.
Is ASVAB Electronics Information hard, and where do test-takers struggle most?
Most test-takers struggle with Ohm's law relationships and with reading circuit diagrams under time pressure (just 10 minutes). A quick diagnostic finds those gaps, then adaptive practice and worked examples build a reliable approach.
How is ASVAB Electronics Information scored?
Each ASVAB subtest is reported as a Standard Score, a scale where the average is 50 and most scores fall between 30 and 70. Electronics Information is not one of the four AFQT subtests, but its Standard Score feeds several job-qualifying line scores. Our practice tracks your readiness by topic.

What does Electronics Information actually test?
Officially, Electronics Information measures "knowledge of electricity and electronics." The official sample questions cover things like current in a circuit, measuring instruments, and components such as diodes.
What score do I need on Electronics Information?
Electronics Information is not part of your AFQT, so it sets no enlistment minimum of its own. It comes back as a standard score, where 50 is average for a nationally representative sample of young adults, and it counts toward the service composites that decide which jobs you qualify for. Electronics Information counts toward the Air Force Electronic composite, the Marine Corps Electrical and Mechanical composites, and Navy technical composites. Ask your recruiter for the cutoff attached to the job you want.
Is Electronics Information the same on the computer and paper ASVAB?
The content is the same; the length is not. On the CAT-ASVAB it is 15 scored questions with 10 minutes, and on the paper version it is 20 questions in 9 minutes. Each examinee also gets unscored tryout questions in two to four subtests, which raises the time limit for those subtests.
