Cuando se conocen las coordenadas de dos puntos que son los extremos de un segmento recto, entonces se puede encontrar el punto medio de este segmento utilizando la fórmula del punto medio que se define como:
¿Cómo es que funciona? Nota que la fórmula está escrita en forma de par ordenado al lado derecho de la igualdad, esto es porque se necesita calcular el punto del centro de este segmento en dos dimensiones, de acuerdo a las coordenadas x y a las coordenadas y del segmento. Así, el resultado calculado con la fórmula del punto medio te dará el valor de en medio relativo al eje X y el valor de en medio relativo al eje Y para formar un par ordenado que nos da las coordenadas del punto medio del segmento.
