4th Grade ELA in Arkansas

Arkansas 4th grade English focuses on building reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills. Students read literary and informational texts, identify main ideas, analyze characters, and write narratives and opinion pieces. These skills are assessed through the ACT Aspire test, which Arkansas uses to measure ELA proficiency in grades 3–8.

Reading Comprehension

4th graders in Arkansas work with both fiction and nonfiction texts. They practice identifying main ideas and supporting details, making inferences, and understanding point of view. StudyPug lessons break down each reading skill with guided practice so students can work through passages confidently.

Writing Skills

Arkansas 4th grade writing covers narrative writing, opinion writing, and informational writing. Students learn how to organize ideas, use transitions, and develop strong sentences. StudyPug provides worked examples and practice exercises for each writing type.

Grammar and Vocabulary

4th grade grammar includes parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization. Vocabulary lessons cover context clues, prefixes, suffixes, and word relationships. StudyPug's practice problems help students apply grammar and vocabulary rules in their own writing.
