You will discover many different types of leaders in your community and country. Leaders are special people who help make important decisions and solve problems for everyone. From your school principal to the president of our country, you will learn about the important jobs these leaders do every day.

What Are Leaders?

Leaders are people who help guide and make decisions for groups of people. You see leaders everywhere - at school, in your town, and in our country. Leaders work hard to help everyone stay safe and happy.

Different leaders have different jobs. Your school principal makes decisions for your school. Your town's mayor makes decisions for your whole community. The president makes decisions for our entire country.

School Leaders

Your principal is the main leader of your school. The principal helps teachers and students by making rules to keep everyone safe. Principals also talk to parents and solve problems that happen at school.

Principals don't work alone. They have helpers like assistant principals and office staff who work together as a team. This teamwork helps make your school a good place to learn.

Community Leaders

Your town or city has important leaders too. The mayor is the main leader who helps make rules for your community. Mayors work to fix roads, keep parks clean, and make decisions that help everyone in town.

Council members are other important community leaders who work with the mayor. They meet at town hall to vote on rules and solve problems. Fire chiefs lead all the firefighters and help keep your community safe.

Government Leaders

Our country has leaders too. The president is the most important leader of our whole country. The president lives in the White House and makes big decisions that affect everyone.

Town Hall: The building where community leaders meet to make decisions and where you can visit local government.

White House: The special house where the president lives and works in Washington, D.C.

Community: The place where you live with your neighbors, including your town or city.

How Leaders Help You

Leaders make decisions that affect your daily life. When you walk on safe sidewalks, play in clean parks, or follow school rules, you see the work that leaders do.

You can practice being a leader too by helping classmates and working in groups. Learning about leadership helps you understand how to help others and make good choices.
