Worked Example: Using an Array

Story: A garden has rows of tomato plants. There are 5 rows, and each row has 6 plants. How many tomato plants are in the garden?

Instead of drawing separate boxes, you can line the plants up in rows and columns, which is called an array. Five rows with 6 plants in each row gives \( 5 \times 6 = 30 \) plants.
