Encontrar el límite de una función gráficamente no siempre es sencillo, así que para mostrar un método alternativo de encontrar un límite vamos a aprender a cómo calcularlo algebraicamente.
En esta sección nos enfocamos en el método del cálculo algebraico de un límite usando sustitución directa.
• Si una función es continua en a, entonces se puede aplicar sustitución directa:
limx→a−f(x)=limx→a+f(x)=limx→af(x)=f(a)
• Las funciones con polinomios son continuas en todos sus puntos, por lo tanto la sustitución directa siempre se le puede ser aplicada a los límites de cualquier número para evaluarlos.
