About 1st Grade Mississippi math
Mississippi follows the Mississippi College and Career Ready Standards for math, which guide what students learn at each grade level. In 1st grade, students work across five main areas: operations and algebraic thinking (addition and subtraction within 20, word problems, and properties of operations), number and operations in base ten (place value, comparing two-digit numbers, and adding within 100), measurement and data (length, time, and organizing data), and geometry (shape attributes and partitioning).
