Idaho 4th Grade English — What Students Learn

In Grade 4, Idaho students develop key English skills across reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. These skills are foundational for success in upper elementary school and are assessed through the Idaho Standards Achievement Tests (ISAT). StudyPug's lessons and practice problems follow Idaho Content Standards so students are always working on the right material.

Reading Comprehension in Grade 4

4th grade readers in Idaho are expected to analyze both literary and informational texts. Students learn to identify main ideas, explain how details support key points, compare texts, and determine the meaning of unfamiliar words using context clues. StudyPug breaks each of these skills into clear, manageable lessons with guided practice.

Writing Skills for Idaho 4th Graders

Grade 4 writing includes narrative, informational, and opinion writing. Students learn how to organize their ideas, use evidence to support claims, and revise their work for clarity. StudyPug provides step-by-step explanations and worked examples to help students understand what strong writing looks like.

Grammar and Language

Idaho's 4th grade English standards cover grammar topics including:

  • Relative pronouns and relative adverbs
  • Progressive verb tenses
  • Correct use of punctuation (commas, quotation marks)
  • Spelling patterns and rules
  • Vocabulary and figurative language

StudyPug lessons explain each grammar rule clearly with examples and practice so students can apply what they learn in their own writing.
