You Have Responsibilities and You Can Make a Difference!

You will learn how to take care of yourself, others, and the environment. You will discover the responsibilities you have at home, at school, and in your community.

What Are Responsibilities?

A responsibility is something you are supposed to do. You have responsibilities at home, at school, and in your community. When you do your responsibilities, you help everyone around you!

You can learn about Family Roles and Responsibilities to see how everyone in your family has a job to do.

Your Personal Responsibilities

Personal responsibilities are things you do to take care of yourself and help at home. You can set the table, wash your hands before lunch, and put your chair in when you leave the table.

You can also turn off lights when you leave a room. This saves energy and helps the Earth. Turning off the tap saves water too!

Your Social Responsibilities

Social responsibilities are the kind things you do with other people. You share your toys with friends. You take turns when you play games. You use kind words when you talk to others.

You listen when others are talking. You say sorry when you hurt someone's feelings. These things help you get along with everyone! You can explore Respect for Others to learn more about being kind.

Your Environmental Responsibilities

Environmental responsibilities are the ways you take care of the Earth. You put garbage in the bin to keep your school and parks clean. You pick up litter so parks stay nice for everyone.

You recycle paper and cans to help the Earth. You water plants to keep them alive. You can even feed birds in winter to help them stay warm! Learn more about Caring for Our Surroundings.

Community Helpers and Their Responsibilities

Community helpers are people who do important jobs to keep everyone safe and healthy. A firefighter uses a hose to put out fires. A police officer keeps your neighbourhood safe. A doctor and a nurse help sick people feel better.

A bus driver takes you to school safely. A farmer grows food like vegetables for your family. A mail carrier brings letters to your home. A librarian helps you find books. A crossing guard helps you cross the road safely. You can read about Community Helpers to learn even more!
