Every book has special parts that you can learn to find. You can point to the front cover, back cover, and spine. These parts tell you important things about the book.
The front cover shows you the title and author. The back cover often has a picture or words about the story. The spine is the part you see when the book sits on a shelf.
You can easily find the front and back of any book. The front cover is what you see first when you pick up a book. It has the title and author's name.
The back cover is on the other side. You flip the book over to see it. Both covers protect the pages inside and give you information about the story.
Inside the book, you will find the title page. This page shows the book's title and author's name again. It is usually one of the first pages you see when you open the book.
The title page helps you make sure you have the right book. It also shows you who wrote the story you are about to read.
Front Cover: The first page you see on a book that shows the title and author's name.
Back Cover: The last page of a book that you see when you flip it over.
Title Page: A page inside the book that shows the title and author's name.
Spine: The part of the book you see when it sits on a shelf, connecting the front and back covers.
Author: The person who wrote the book or story.
Title: The name of the book or story.
You can practice finding book parts with any book you have. Point to the front cover and say the title out loud. Find the author's name and point to it too.
Try looking at different books and comparing their covers. Notice how each book has the same parts but looks different. This practice helps you with Following Words In Reading Order.
