About the GED Science test
GED Science is one of four subjects on the GED — the high-school-equivalency credential accepted by 99% of U.S. colleges and employers. This free GED Science practice test covers life, physical, and earth science, with a step-by-step explanation for every question.
What topics does GED Science cover?
A 90-minute test split evenly between Life Science and Physical Science, with a smaller Earth & Space Science section. StudyPug covers all of them with adaptive practice and video lessons.
Is GED Science hard, and where do learners struggle most?
Most adult learners have gaps in a few specific places — usually chemical reactions, human body systems, and reading data from charts and graphs. A quick diagnostic finds those gaps, then adaptive GED Science practice fills them so you move from stuck to confident.
How is GED Science scored?
You need 145 or higher (out of 200) to pass GED Science, and each subject is scored independently — so you only retake the subjects you don't pass. Scoring 165–174 earns a College Ready designation. Our practice tracks your readiness by topic.

Science covers: Life Science (40%), Physical Science (40%), Earth & Space Science (20%).
What score do I need to pass?
You need at least 145/200 to pass Science. The test has 30-35 questions, 90 minutes.
Is the GED the same as the CAEC?
The GED is a US high school equivalency test. Canada uses the CAEC (Canadian Adult Education Credential) instead, which covers similar subject areas but has its own distinct format, question types, and scoring. StudyPug's GED prep is built specifically around the GED blueprint.
