About the GED Mathematical Reasoning test

GED Mathematical Reasoning is one of four subjects on the GED — the high-school-equivalency credential accepted by 99% of U.S. colleges and employers. This free GED Math practice test covers every topic tested, with a step-by-step video solution for every question so a wrong answer turns into a lesson.

What topics does GED Math cover?

One 115-minute block spanning Basic Math & Number Operations, Algebra & Functions (the largest share), Geometry & Measurement, and Data Analysis & Statistics. A calculator is allowed for most of the test. StudyPug covers all of them with adaptive practice and video lessons.

Is GED Math hard, and where do learners struggle most?

Most adult learners have gaps in a few specific places — usually solving multi-step linear and quadratic equations, factoring, and word problems. A quick diagnostic finds those gaps, then adaptive GED Math practice fills them so you move from stuck to confident.

How is GED Math scored?

You need 145 or higher (out of 200) to pass GED Math, and each subject is scored independently — so you only retake the subjects you don't pass. Scoring 165–174 earns a College Ready designation. Our practice tracks your readiness by topic.

What does Math actually test?

Math covers: Basic Math & Number Operations (25%), Algebra & Functions (35%), Geometry & Measurement (25%), Data Analysis & Statistics (15%).

What score do I need to pass?

You need at least 145/200 to pass Math. The test has 45-49 questions, 115 minutes.

Is the GED the same as the CAEC?
