To build confidence naming numbers up to \(10\), try these steps:
1. Point to a numeral and say its name out loud.
2. Count a small group of objects and match the total to its numeral and word.
3. Cover the numeral and try to write it after hearing only the word.
4. Mix up the order of numerals \(1\) through \(10\) and name them randomly, not just in sequence.
Once naming feels automatic, these same numeral-word pairs make later topics, such as tally marks up to 10, much easier to understand, since every tally count still needs to be named correctly at the end.
