3rd Grade Math Topics in Wyoming

Wyoming's 3rd grade math curriculum covers a wide range of foundational topics. Students begin multiplying and dividing whole numbers, work with fractions for the first time, and explore measurement, data, and geometry. Every topic on StudyPug is aligned to the Wyoming Mathematics Standards so your child is learning exactly what their teacher expects.

Multiplication and Division

One of the biggest leaps in 3rd grade is learning multiplication and division. Students learn to interpret products and quotients, solve word problems, and eventually fluently multiply and divide within 100. StudyPug breaks each concept into short video lessons so students can build confidence one step at a time.

  • Interpret products of whole numbers
  • Use multiplication and division to solve word problems
  • Apply properties of operations to multiply and divide
  • Fluently multiply and divide within 100

Fractions

3rd grade introduces fractions for the first time. Students learn what a fraction means, how to place fractions on a number line, and how to compare fractions by reasoning about their size. These skills form the foundation for all fraction work in 4th and 5th grade.

Measurement and Data

Students measure liquid volumes and masses, tell time to the nearest minute, and create picture graphs and bar graphs. They also measure lengths to the nearest half and quarter inch — skills directly assessed on the WY-TOPP.

Area, Perimeter, and Geometry

3rd graders explore area as an attribute of shapes, count unit squares, and connect area to multiplication. They also solve perimeter problems and learn to categorize shapes by their attributes.

StudyPug has video lessons and practice problems for every one of these topics. Find the topic your child needs help with in the table above and start watching today.
