UT 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Give your 3rd grader the support they need to keep up with Utah Core Standards math, from multiplication and division to fractions, measurement, and geometry.
About 3rd Grade Utah math
Utah 3rd grade math follows the Utah Core Standards, organized around Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. Students build fluency with multiplication and division within 100, place fractions on a number line, measure area and perimeter, and read scaled graphs. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems matched to every strand in this course.
- Strands: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry
- Video lessons covering every Utah Core Standards 3rd grade math topic
- Practice problems and step-by-step explanations for each concept
- Aligned to Utah Core Standards so every lesson matches what is taught in class

Find lessons and practice for every 3rd grade math strand, aligned to Utah Core Standards.
Utah 3rd Grade Math Topics
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Interpreting products and quotients of whole numbers, solving multiplication and division word problems within 100, applying properties of operations, understanding division as an unknown-factor problem, achieving fluency with multiplication and division, solving two-step word problems, and identifying arithmetic patterns.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: Rounding whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100, adding and subtracting fluently within 1000 using place value strategies, and multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of 10 in the range 10 to 90.
- Number and Operations - Fractions: Understanding a fraction as one part of a whole partitioned into equal parts, placing fractions on a number line, and explaining equivalence and comparison of fractions by reasoning about their size.
- Measurement and Data: Telling and writing time to the nearest minute, measuring liquid volumes and masses using standard units, drawing scaled picture graphs and bar graphs, and generating length measurement data using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch.
- Geometry: Recognizing area as an attribute of plane figures, measuring area by counting unit squares, relating area to multiplication and addition, solving real-world perimeter problems, understanding shared attributes across shape categories, and partitioning shapes into equal parts expressed as unit fractions.
How StudyPug Helps Utah 3rd Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a concept like multiplying within 100 or placing fractions on a number line, StudyPug lets them go back to the exact lesson they need, watch a focused video, and work through practice problems with step-by-step explanations until the idea clicks. Parents looking for a starting point can explore grade 3 math help or let their child try a math quiz for 3rd grade to identify gaps quickly.
Students who want to review what they learned in 2nd grade can also revisit the UT grade 2 math curriculum to fill in any missing foundations before moving forward.
Aligned to Utah 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson on StudyPug is built around the Utah Core Standards for 3rd grade math, covering the same strands - Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry - that Utah classrooms follow, so students practice exactly what their teacher is teaching.
