Give your 10th grader the support they need to keep up with Tennessee science class. Lessons and practice problems cover every strand, from genetics to physics to ecosystems.

10th Grade Science

About 10th Grade Tennessee science

Tennessee follows the Tennessee Academic Standards for Science, organized around disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts. In 10th grade, students work through DNA structure and inheritance, chemical reactions and solutions, kinematics and dynamics, energy forms and nuclear physics, climate and ecosystems, and engineering applications. StudyPug provides video lessons, step-by-step explanations, and practice problems aligned to every strand of this course.

  • Strands: genetics, chemistry, physics, earth and environmental science, and engineering
  • Video lessons for every 10th grade Tennessee science topic
  • Practice problems and step-by-step worked examples
  • Aligned to Tennessee Academic Standards for Science

Tennessee 10th Grade Science Topics

  • Advanced Research and Ethics: scientific inquiry methods, research design, and the ethical responsibilities of scientists.
  • DNA Structure and Inheritance: double helix structure, replication, and how traits are passed from parents to offspring.
  • Mechanisms and Evidence: evolutionary mechanisms and the fossil, molecular, and anatomical evidence that supports them.
  • Reactions and Solutions: chemical reaction types, balancing equations, solution concentration, and acids and bases.
  • Energy Forms and Nuclear Physics: kinetic and potential energy, energy transfer, radioactive decay, and fission and fusion.
  • Kinematics and Dynamics: motion graphs, velocity, acceleration, Newton's laws, and forces in real-world contexts.
  • Climate and Resources: Earth's climate systems, natural resource cycles, and the human impact on those systems.
  • Universe and Technology: stellar evolution, cosmology, and the technologies that arise from space science research.
  • Ecosystems and Sustainability: energy flow through food webs, biodiversity, and practices that support long-term ecosystem health.
  • Engineering and Applications: the engineering design process, constraints and criteria, and science applied to solve real problems.

How StudyPug Helps Tennessee 10th Grade Science Students

When a student gets stuck on a concept like balancing chemical equations or interpreting motion graphs, StudyPug lets them go back to exactly that topic and work through a video lesson at their own pace. Step-by-step worked examples show each stage of the solution so the student can see where their reasoning went wrong.

Practice problems after each lesson reinforce the concept before the next class. Students working toward the TCAP Biology end-of-course exam can use StudyPug to review inheritance, ecosystems, and evolution topics in the weeks leading up to the assessment.

Aligned to Tennessee 10th Grade Science Curriculum

Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is mapped to the Tennessee Academic Standards for Science. The strand structure follows the same disciplinary core ideas and science and engineering practices that Tennessee teachers use in the classroom, so students are always practicing what their school actually requires.
