  • Writing simple sentences and short narratives
  • Vocabulary development and word meaning
  • Speaking and listening skills

How StudyPug Supports 1st Grade ELA

StudyPug provides step-by-step lessons and practice exercises for every 1st grade ELA topic. Students can work through guided explanations at their own pace, redo practice problems until they feel confident, and get support with homework anytime. Every topic is aligned to what Tennessee schools teach, so there are no gaps between class and home study.

Preparing for Future ELA Assessments

While Tennessee does not administer a standardized ELA test in 1st grade, the skills students develop now lay the groundwork for TNReady ELA assessments that begin in Grade 3. Building strong phonics, reading, and writing habits early makes a real difference as students move through elementary school.
