About High School South Carolina Algebra 1

South Carolina follows the SC College- and Career-Ready Standards, organized around creating and solving equations, understanding functions, and analyzing data. In Algebra 1, students work through linear and quadratic equations, systems of equations and inequalities, polynomial expressions, exponential functions, and statistical reasoning with scatter plots and data distributions. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to each of these strands so students can keep pace with their South Carolina classroom.

  • Strands covered: equations and inequalities, functions, polynomials and expressions, exponential functions, and statistics and data analysis
  • Video lessons for every Algebra 1 topic, taught step by step
  • Practice problems with worked examples to reinforce each concept
  • Fully aligned to South Carolina SC College- and Career-Ready Standards for Algebra 1

SC High School Algebra 1 Topics

  • Equations and Inequalities: Creating and solving linear, quadratic, rational, and exponential equations in one variable; rearranging formulas; solving systems of linear equations exactly and approximately.
  • Systems and Inequalities: Representing constraints with systems of equations and inequalities; graphing solution sets as half-planes and intersections of half-planes in two variables.
  • Expressions and Polynomials: Interpreting and rewriting algebraic expressions; adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials; working with rational exponents and radicals.
  • Functions: Understanding domain and range; using function notation; interpreting key features of graphs and tables; writing and transforming functions; comparing linear and exponential models; arithmetic and geometric sequences.
  • Statistics and Data Analysis: Representing data with dot plots, histograms, and box plots; comparing center and spread; interpreting scatter plots and linear models; distinguishing correlation from causation.

How StudyPug Helps SC High School Algebra 1 Students

When a student gets stuck on a concept like solving a system of equations or interpreting a scatter plot, they can search for that exact topic and find a clear, step-by-step video lesson followed by practice problems. Working through examples at their own pace builds the confidence to return to class ready to participate.

Students who fall behind or want to get ahead can move through the strands in any order, revisiting earlier lessons on linear equations before tackling quadratic functions or exponential growth. The practice problems give immediate feedback so gaps are caught early rather than carried into the next unit.

Aligned to SC High School Algebra 1 Curriculum

Every lesson on StudyPug is built around the SC College- and Career-Ready Standards for Algebra 1, covering the same equations, functions, and data analysis skills that South Carolina students are expected to learn in their high school course. Families can be confident that the content matches what is being taught in the classroom.
