Ohio 3rd Grade Math Topics

Multiplication and Division
Students learn to interpret products and quotients of whole numbers, use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems, and fluently multiply and divide within 100. Fractions
3rd grade is when fractions are first introduced. Students learn to understand a fraction as a part of a whole, represent fractions on a number line, and compare fractions by reasoning about their size. These skills form the foundation for fraction operations in later grades.

Students recognize that shapes in different categories can share attributes, and they partition shapes into equal parts — expressing each part as a unit fraction of the whole.
