NV 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Help your child keep up with Nevada's 3rd grade math class. Our lessons and practice problems follow the Nevada Academic Content Standards so every topic matches what their teacher is covering.
About 3rd Grade Nevada math
Nevada follows the Nevada Academic Content Standards for Mathematics, organized around Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations - Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. In 3rd grade, students build fluency with multiplication and division within 100, work with fractions as numbers on a number line, measure area and perimeter, and read scaled graphs. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to every one of these strands.
- Strands covered: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry
- Video lessons for every 3rd grade Nevada math topic
- Practice problems and step-by-step explanations after each lesson
- Content aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards for Mathematics
Curriculum topics by strand
Lessons and practice for every strand in the Nevada Academic Content Standards for 3rd Grade Math.
Nevada 3rd Grade Math Topics
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Interpreting products and quotients of whole numbers, solving multiplication and division word problems within 100, applying properties of operations, understanding division as an unknown-factor problem, and identifying arithmetic patterns.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: Rounding whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100 using place value understanding, fluently adding and subtracting within 1000, and multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of 10.
- Number and Operations - Fractions: Understanding fractions as numbers formed by equal parts of a whole, representing fractions on a number line, and explaining equivalence and comparing fractions by reasoning about size.
- Measurement and Data: Telling and writing time to the nearest minute, measuring liquid volumes and masses with standard units, drawing scaled picture graphs and bar graphs, generating measurement data with rulers marked in halves and fourths of an inch, and understanding area by counting unit squares and relating it to multiplication.
- Geometry: Recognizing shared attributes of shapes in different categories, solving perimeter problems for polygons, and partitioning shapes into equal areas expressed as unit fractions.
How StudyPug Helps Nevada 3rd Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a concept like fractions on a number line or a two-step word problem, they can go straight to the matching lesson, watch the video explanation, and then work through practice problems with step-by-step solutions. Our grade 3 math help is organized by topic so students never have to search long to find what their class is working on.
Need to check how well a concept has landed? The math quiz for 3rd grade lets students test themselves on the skills covered in the Nevada Academic Content Standards and spot any gaps before a class test.
Aligned to Nevada 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson on StudyPug is mapped to the Nevada Academic Content Standards for Mathematics, the same standards Nevada schools use to plan 3rd grade instruction and that the SBAC assessment measures. Parents looking to see how this year connects to the year before can also explore the NV grade 2 math curriculum to understand the foundation their child built in 2nd grade.
