Nevada 2nd Grade Math: Topics and Skills

Nevada 2nd grade math covers a wide range of foundational skills that set students up for success in 3rd grade and beyond. StudyPug's lessons follow the Nevada Academic Content Standards Math so every topic your child's teacher covers in class is also covered here.

Addition and Subtraction

2nd graders work on adding and subtracting within 100 and 1000. They solve one- and two-step word problems, add up to four two-digit numbers, and use mental strategies to add or subtract 10 or 100 from any number. StudyPug breaks each skill into a short video lesson followed by practice problems.

Place Value

Students learn that a three-digit number represents hundreds, tens, and ones. They read and write numbers to 1000 in standard form, word form, and expanded form, and compare three-digit numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to. These skills build directly on 1st grade number sense.

Measurement, Data, and Geometry

  • Measure lengths using inches, feet, centimeters, and meters
  • Tell time to the nearest five minutes on analog and digital clocks
  • Solve word problems involving coins and dollar bills
  • Draw picture graphs and bar graphs with up to four categories
  • Recognize shapes and partition rectangles and circles into equal shares

StudyPug has a video lesson and practice set for every one of these standards so your Nevada 2nd grader is always prepared for class.
