Nevada 3rd Grade Math Topics
Nevada 3rd grade math covers a wide range of foundational concepts aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards Math. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems for all 25 topic areas, from interpreting products of whole numbers to partitioning shapes into equal parts.
Multiplication and Division
For the first time, 3rd graders learn to multiply and divide. Students interpret products and quotients of whole numbers, use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems, and apply properties of operations as strategies. StudyPug walks through each concept with clear video lessons and worked examples.
Fractions
3rd grade introduces fractions as numbers. Students learn to understand a fraction as a quantity on a number line, explain equivalence, and compare fractions by reasoning about their size. These skills prepare students for more advanced fraction work in 4th and 5th grade.
Measurement, Data, and Geometry
Students measure time, liquid volumes, and masses using standard units. They draw scaled picture graphs and bar graphs, generate measurement data with rulers, and explore concepts of area and perimeter. Geometry topics include identifying shape attributes and partitioning shapes into equal areas.
- Multiplication and division fluency within 100
- Two-step word problems using all four operations
- Fractions on a number line
- Area and perimeter of polygons
- Scaled bar graphs and picture graphs
All topics align to Nevada Academic Content Standards Math and prepare students for the Nevada SBAC assessment in 3rd grade.
