New Mexico follows the New Mexico Standards for mathematics, building rigorous high school courses around conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. - Limits and continuity: Understand limits graphically and numerically, evaluate limits using substitution, determine continuity at a point, identify types of discontinuities, and find limits at infinity to describe end behavior.
- Differentiation rules: Find derivatives using the power rule, product rule, quotient rule, and chain rule, and differentiate trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions.
- Implicit differentiation and linear approximation: Find derivatives of implicitly defined functions and use tangent line equations for linear approximation.
- Applications of derivatives: Find critical points, local maxima and minima, and solve optimization problems; analyze increasing and decreasing behavior and concavity; solve related rates problems; and apply derivatives to velocity and acceleration.
- Antiderivatives and integration: Find antiderivatives of basic functions, approximate definite integrals using left, right, and midpoint Riemann sums, and apply the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.
- Integration techniques and applications: Use substitution to evaluate integrals, find area under and between curves, determine displacement and distance from velocity functions, and calculate the average value of a function over an interval.
