NJ Kindergarten Math Topics
- Counting and Cardinality: counting to 100 by ones and tens, counting forward from any number, writing numerals 0-20, connecting counting to cardinality, and answering 'how many?' for up to 20 objects.
- Comparing Numbers: identifying whether a group has greater than, less than, or equal to objects compared to another group, and comparing two written numerals between 1 and 10.
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: representing addition and subtraction in multiple ways, solving word problems within 10, decomposing numbers into pairs, finding the number that makes 10, and fluently adding and subtracting within 5.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: composing and decomposing numbers 11-19 into ten ones and some further ones.
- Measurement and Data: describing measurable attributes such as length and weight, directly comparing objects, and classifying and sorting objects into categories by count.
- Geometry: naming and describing shapes in the environment, identifying flat and solid shapes, analyzing and comparing 2D and 3D shapes, and composing simple shapes to form larger ones.
