About 7th Grade New Jersey math
New Jersey follows the NJ Student Learning Standards for Mathematics, which organizes 7th grade content into strands covering ratios and proportional relationships, the number system, expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics and probability. Students work with rational numbers, scale drawings, angle relationships, circle formulas, sampling, and compound probability. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to every strand so students can get unstuck and stay on track with what their classroom is teaching.
- Strands: ratios and proportional relationships, the number system, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics and probability
- Video lessons for every 7th grade math topic
- Practice problems and step-by-step explanations
- Aligned to NJ Student Learning Standards for Mathematics

NJ 7th Grade Math Topics
- Ratios and Proportional Relationships: Computing unit rates with fractional ratios, recognizing proportional relationships, and solving multistep ratio and percent problems.
- The Number System: Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing rational numbers, including operations on a number line and solving real-world problems with all four operations.
- Expressions and Equations: Applying properties of operations to linear expressions with rational coefficients, rewriting expressions, solving multi-step problems with rational numbers, and constructing simple equations and inequalities.
- Geometry: Scale drawings, constructing triangles, cross-sections of three-dimensional figures, area and circumference of circles, angle relationships, and surface area and volume of composite figures.
- Statistics and Probability: Drawing inferences from random samples, comparing two populations using measures of center and variability, understanding probability as a number between 0 and 1, probability models, and compound events using lists, tables, and tree diagrams.
How StudyPug Helps New Jersey 7th Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on rational number operations or angle relationships mid-homework, they can go straight to a matching lesson, watch a worked example, and try a practice problem before returning to their assignment. For ongoing grade 7 math help, StudyPug lets students revisit any topic at their own pace without waiting for the next class. A quick 7th grade math quiz can also help identify which strands need the most attention.
Parents who want to see where their child stands before 7th grade can look back at the NJ grade 6 math curriculum to understand the foundation being built on.
Aligned to NJ 7th Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is built to match the NJ Student Learning Standards for Mathematics, covering the exact strands and skills that New Jersey 7th grade classrooms teach.
