NC High School Precalculus Curriculum
Give your student the support they need to keep up with North Carolina Precalculus. Video lessons and practice problems follow the NC Standard Course of Study so every topic matches what is taught in class.
About High School North Carolina Precalculus
North Carolina Precalculus follows the NC Standard Course of Study, organizing content across number and quantity, functions, algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability. Students explore complex numbers, trigonometric functions and identities, vectors, matrices, conic sections, and inferential statistics with probability distributions. StudyPug provides video lessons, step-by-step worked examples, and graded practice problems aligned to each strand so students can review any topic at their own pace.
- Strands: complex numbers, trigonometry and the unit circle, vectors and matrices, conic sections, and statistics and probability
- Video lessons for every Precalculus topic, taught step by step
- Practice problems with instant feedback and full worked solutions
- Content aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Precalculus

NC High School Precalculus Topics
- Complex numbers and the complex plane: Rectangular and polar forms, modulus, argument, and geometric operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and conjugation on the complex plane.
- Trigonometric functions and the unit circle: Radian measure, special triangle values, symmetry, periodicity, inverse trigonometric functions, and modeling periodic phenomena with specified amplitude and frequency.
- Trigonometric identities and applications: The Pythagorean identity, addition and subtraction formulas, the Laws of Sines and Cosines, and the triangle area formula using sine.
- Algebra and functions: Rearranging formulas, solving equations graphically and numerically across linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions, and operations on rational expressions and polynomial identities including the Binomial Theorem.
- Vectors and matrices: Vector magnitude, direction, components, scalar multiplication, and addition; matrix operations, transformations of the plane, determinants, and solving systems of equations using matrix inverses.
- Conic sections and geometry: Equations of parabolas given focus and directrix, equations of ellipses and hyperbolas given foci, and constructing tangent lines to circles.
- Statistics, probability, and modeling: Sampling methods, margin of error, randomized experiments, conditional probability, independence, probability distributions, expected value, and decision analysis.
How StudyPug Helps NC High School Precalculus Students
When a student gets stuck on a concept such as proving a trigonometric identity or working through matrix transformations, StudyPug provides a short video lesson followed by practice problems with immediate feedback. Each problem set links back to the worked example so students can retrace the reasoning step by step rather than simply memorizing an answer.
Because every lesson is available on demand, students can review a strand before a test, catch up after an absence, or work ahead on topics they find challenging - all without waiting for the next class period.
Aligned to NC High School Precalculus Curriculum
Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is mapped to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Precalculus, covering the same strands - complex numbers, trigonometry, vectors, matrices, conic sections, and statistics - in the same depth that North Carolina schools require, so students are always preparing for what their teacher will assess.
