About 2nd Grade North Carolina ELA

North Carolina follows the NC Standard Course of Study for ELA, organized around foundational reading skills, reading literature, reading informational texts, writing, language and grammar, and speaking and listening. In 2nd grade, students strengthen phonics and word recognition, read closely for meaning in both stories and informational texts, and begin developing structured writing.
