MS 4th Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with Mississippi's 4th grade math expectations, from multiplication and fractions to geometry and measurement, all in one place.
About 4th Grade Mississippi math
Mississippi follows the MS College Career Ready Standards for math, organized around number sense, operations, fractions, measurement, data, and geometry. In 4th grade, students work on multiplicative comparison, multi-digit addition and subtraction, fraction equivalence and addition, decimal notation, measurement conversions, area and perimeter, angle measurement, and classifying two-dimensional shapes. StudyPug provides step-by-step video lessons and practice problems covering every one of these strands.
- Strands: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations - Fractions, Measurement and Data, Geometry
- Video lessons with step-by-step explanations for every 4th grade topic
- Practice problems and worked examples aligned to MS College Career Ready Standards
- Progress tracking so you can see exactly where your child needs more support

Mississippi 4th Grade Math Topics
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Interpreting multiplication equations as comparisons, solving multiplicative comparison word problems, solving multistep word problems using all four operations, finding factor pairs, and generating number and shape patterns.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: Understanding place value in multi-digit numbers, reading and writing numbers in base-ten and expanded form, rounding to any place, adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers fluently, multiplying up to four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers, and dividing with up to four-digit dividends.
- Number and Operations - Fractions: Explaining fraction equivalence, comparing fractions with unlike numerators and denominators, understanding fractions as sums of unit fractions, multiplying a fraction by a whole number, expressing fractions with denominator 10 as hundredths, using decimal notation, and comparing decimals to hundredths.
- Measurement and Data: Understanding relative sizes of units within a measurement system, solving word problems involving distance, time, volume, mass, and money, applying area and perimeter formulas, and making line plots with fractional measurements.
- Geometry: Recognizing and measuring angles, sketching angles of specified measures, understanding angle measure as additive, drawing geometric figures including lines and angles, classifying two-dimensional shapes by their properties, and identifying lines of symmetry.
How StudyPug Helps Mississippi 4th Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a concept like fraction equivalence or long division, they can go straight to the matching lesson on StudyPug, watch the explanation at their own pace, and then work through practice problems with immediate feedback. You can try grade 4 math questions right away to see where your child stands before starting a full lesson sequence.
StudyPug follows the same sequence Mississippi classrooms use, so students are never working on material that is ahead of or behind their current unit. If your child is building on skills from last year, the ms grade 3 math curriculum is also available so you can fill any gaps quickly.
Aligned to Mississippi 4th Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is matched to the MS College Career Ready Standards for 4th grade math, covering all five strands - Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations - Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry - so your child is always working on content that reflects what Mississippi schools expect at this grade level.
