6th Grade ELA in Missouri

Missouri 6th graders are expected to read complex texts, write clear arguments, analyze literary and informational passages, and apply grammar rules with accuracy. These skills form the core of the Missouri Learning Standards for English Language Arts and are assessed on the MAP test in Grade 6.

Reading and Writing Skills Covered

At this grade level, students move from learning to read to reading to learn. Key skills include identifying central ideas in informational texts, analyzing how authors use evidence, comparing multiple sources, and writing well-structured arguments and narratives. StudyPug breaks each of these skills into clear, manageable lessons with guided practice.

Grammar and Language Arts

6th grade ELA also includes grammar, usage, and mechanics — from sentence structure and punctuation to vocabulary development and word relationships. StudyPug's lessons walk through each concept with worked examples and practice exercises so students can apply what they learn.

Aligned to Missouri Learning Standards

Every topic in StudyPug's 6th grade ELA content follows the Missouri Learning Standards, so students are always working on what their teacher expects. Parents and students can find specific skills in the topic table and jump straight to the lesson they need.
