About 2nd Grade Maryland science

Maryland follows the Maryland College Career Ready Standards for science, organized around life science, physical science, and earth science strands. In 2nd grade, students explore growth patterns, reproduction, animal and plant diversity, states of matter, physical changes, types of forces, movement, water systems, weather, and forms of energy. StudyPug provides step-by-step lessons and practice problems that follow these strands so students can build confidence at home.

  • Strands: life science (growth, reproduction, animal and plant diversity), physical science (matter, forces, movement, energy), and earth science (water systems, weather)
  • Video lessons covering every 2nd grade Maryland science topic
  • Practice problems and step-by-step explanations for each strand

How StudyPug Helps Maryland 2nd Grade Science Students

When your child gets stuck on a topic like states of matter or types of forces, they can search for that strand directly and watch a short video lesson that walks through the concept step by step. Our grade 2 science help is organized so students can jump straight to the lesson they need rather than sitting through material they already know.

StudyPug also supports progression across grade levels. If your child needs a refresher on something introduced in 1st grade, the md grade 1 science curriculum is available alongside this course, and the md grade 3 science curriculum is there when they are ready to look ahead.

Aligned to Maryland 2nd Grade Science Curriculum

Every lesson on StudyPug is built to match the Maryland College Career Ready Standards for 2nd grade science, covering the same strands, concepts, and vocabulary your child encounters in the classroom, so practice at home directly supports what is being taught at school.
