4th Grade ELA in Louisiana

Louisiana 4th grade students are expected to read and understand complex literary and informational texts, write clearly across different purposes, and use grammar and vocabulary accurately. All of these skills are measured on the LEAP 2025 ELA assessment given in Grade 4. StudyPug covers every one of these skills with clear lessons and practice exercises aligned to the Louisiana Student Standards.

Reading and Writing Skills Covered

4th grade ELA builds on what students learned in Grade 3. Students move from simple story comprehension to analyzing characters, themes, and author's purpose. On the writing side, students practice organizing paragraphs, supporting ideas with details, and revising their work. StudyPug breaks each of these skills into manageable steps so students never feel lost.

  • Reading comprehension — literary and informational texts
  • Literary analysis — character, setting, theme, and point of view
  • Informational text features — headings, captions, charts
  • Writing — opinion, informational, and narrative forms
  • Grammar — parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation
  • Vocabulary — context clues, word relationships, academic words

Preparing for LEAP 2025 ELA

The LEAP 2025 ELA test in Grade 4 assesses reading, writing, and language skills. Students who practice these skills regularly throughout the year are better prepared on test day. StudyPug's practice exercises mirror the types of questions Louisiana 4th graders see on the LEAP 2025, helping them build confidence before the assessment.

How StudyPug Supports Louisiana 4th Graders

StudyPug gives Louisiana students a place to revisit any ELA topic whenever they need it. If a student missed a lesson at school or is stuck on a homework assignment, they can find the topic, work through the explanation, and practice until they feel confident. Parents can also follow along to see exactly what their child is learning and where they need more support.
