About 5th Grade Delaware math
Delaware follows the Delaware Content Standards for math, organized around number sense, operations, measurement, and geometry. In 5th grade, students work with multi-digit multiplication and division, decimal operations to hundredths, fractions with unlike denominators, volume measurement, and coordinate plane graphing. StudyPug provides video lessons, step-by-step practice problems, and instant feedback aligned to every strand in this course.
- Strands: operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, fractions, measurement and data, and geometry

- Number and Operations - Fractions: Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators and mixed numbers; solving fraction word problems; interpreting fractions as division; multiplying fractions and whole numbers by fractions; interpreting multiplication as scaling; dividing unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
- Measurement and Data: Converting units within a measurement system; making line plots with fractional measurements; understanding and measuring volume using unit cubes; relating volume to multiplication and addition.
- Geometry: Defining a coordinate system using perpendicular axes; graphing and interpreting points in the first quadrant; classifying two-dimensional figures by properties and in a hierarchy.
How StudyPug Helps Delaware 5th Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a problem involving fractions with unlike denominators or decimal division, they can go straight to the matching lesson on StudyPug for a clear, step-by-step explanation before trying the practice problems again. Our grade 5 math help is organized by strand so students can find exactly what their class is working on that week.
Parents can also use the grade 5 math practice test to see where their child needs extra support before a big test or end-of-unit review. If your child is building on skills from last year, the DE grade 4 math curriculum page shows what was covered in 4th grade.
Aligned to Delaware 5th Grade Math Curriculum
All StudyPug lessons for this course are aligned to the Delaware Content Standards for 5th grade math. Every strand - from place value and decimal operations to volume and coordinate geometry - matches what Delaware students are expected to learn and what the Delaware Student Testing Program assesses, so your child is always working on content that counts in class.
