Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts

Delaware 4th Grade Math: Topics and Standards

Delaware 4th grade math covers a wide range of skills across number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, measurement, and geometry. Every topic on StudyPug is aligned to the Delaware Math Content Standards, so students are practicing exactly what their teachers are covering in class.

Multiplication and Division

Students learn to interpret multiplication as a comparison, multiply up to four-digit numbers by a one-digit number, and divide with up to four-digit dividends. They also solve multi-step word problems using all four operations — skills that form the foundation for 5th grade math.

Fractions and Decimals

4th grade is a major year for fractions. Students learn equivalent fractions, compare fractions with different numerators and denominators, and begin adding fractions with the same denominator. They also connect fractions to decimals, expressing fractions with denominators of 10 or 100 in decimal form and comparing decimals to the hundredths place.

Measurement and Data

Students apply the four operations to solve word problems involving time, distance, volume, and money. They also use area and perimeter formulas for rectangles and create line plots using fractional measurements.

Geometry

4th graders explore angles, learn to measure them with a protractor, and classify two-dimensional figures based on parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and angle types. They also identify lines of symmetry in two-dimensional shapes.
