AK High School Calculus Curriculum
Give your teen the support they need to succeed in High School Calculus. Our lessons follow what Alaska schools teach, covering limits, derivatives, and integrals step by step.
About High School Calculus Alaska math
Alaska follows the Alaska Mathematics Standards, which emphasize conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. This course covers limits and continuity, differentiation rules and applications, and integral calculus including the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and area between curves. StudyPug provides video lessons, worked examples, and practice problems matched to every strand in this course.
- Strands: Limits and Continuity, Derivatives and Differentiation Rules, Applications of Derivatives, and Integral Calculus
- Video lessons with step-by-step explanations for every topic
- Practice problems and worked examples aligned to Alaska Mathematics Standards
- Coverage of all major calculus topics from basic limits through integration techniques
Curriculum topics by strand
Find lessons and practice for every strand, aligned to the Alaska Mathematics Standards for High School Calculus.
Alaska High School Calculus Topics
- Limits and Continuity: Understand limits graphically and numerically, evaluate limits using substitution, determine continuity at a point, identify types of discontinuities, and describe end behavior using limits at infinity.
- Derivatives and Differentiation Rules: Understand the derivative as rate of change and slope of the tangent line; apply the power rule, product rule, quotient rule, and chain rule; differentiate trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions; and find derivatives of implicitly defined functions.
- Applications of Derivatives: Find equations of tangent lines, use linear approximation, locate critical points and local extrema, solve optimization problems, analyze increasing and decreasing behavior and concavity, sketch curves, solve related rates problems, and apply derivatives to velocity and acceleration.
- Integral Calculus: Find antiderivatives of basic functions, approximate definite integrals using Riemann sums, apply the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, use substitution to evaluate integrals, find area under and between curves, determine displacement and distance from velocity functions, and calculate the average value of a function over an interval.
How StudyPug Helps Alaska High School Calculus Students
When a student gets stuck on a concept like implicit differentiation or the substitution method, they can search for that exact topic and watch a focused video lesson that walks through the steps clearly. Practice problems follow each lesson so students can check their understanding right away.
StudyPug lets students move at their own pace, revisiting limits or integration techniques as many times as needed until the idea clicks - without waiting for the next class period or a teacher to be available.
Aligned to Alaska High School Calculus Curriculum
Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is built around the Alaska Mathematics Standards, so the topics, vocabulary, and methods your student sees here match what their teacher is covering in class. Whether the course follows a traditional calculus sequence or an AP pathway, the content stays consistent with what Alaska schools expect at the high school level.
