<p>- Hi, welcome to this question right here. So this is a little question where it's kind of fun. Pretend you do have this in front of you. It's called a triangular prism. So if you unwrap it, imagine the net thing you have. So, I'm going to pretend that this is actually an equilateral triangle. So there's one in the front and there's one in the back. So what happened is, I'm going to draw one of them here, and there's the middle piece and there's another one over there. They're actually the same size, sorry about my drawing. So basically if I unwrap this open, basically I fold this one down, I fold the one on the back down, I get the one on the top, one on the bottom and this piece is the bottom layer. But there's also two more layers here and here, and where are they connected? Well they're connected between the bottom layer of the rectangle here. So it's actually just like over here as well; similar size. So imagine if you actually fold this, if you actually take this and put it flat like this, what happened is you can fold this side, you can fold this side and then the top and the bottom comes all folded upwards, you get yourself back to the triangular prism. Now because I don't know if this is a equilateral triangle, if it does, then all the sides should be the same length okay. They all should be the same and that might be including the last pieces here too. But that's basically a rough sketch of the net for this diagram right here. All right. Thanks for watching.</p>

It is possible to represent 3-dimensional shapes into 2-dimensional patterns called nets. If you fold the nets back up, they will be reverted to their original 3-dimensional form. It is way easier to find the surface area and perimeter of a 3D object if we know its net!
