WV 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with West Virginia's 3rd grade math expectations, from multiplication facts to fractions and geometry.
About 3rd Grade West Virginia math
West Virginia follows the WV College Career Ready Standards for math, organized around operations, fractions, measurement, data, and geometry. In 3rd grade, students build multiplication and division fluency within 100, work with fractions as numbers on a number line, measure area and perimeter, and read scaled graphs. StudyPug covers every strand with lessons, worked examples, and practice problems aligned to the WV CCR Standards.
- Strands: multiplication and division, fractions, place value, measurement and data, and geometry
- Step-by-step video lessons for every 3rd grade math topic
- Practice problems with instant feedback for each strand
- Content aligned to West Virginia WV CCR Standards

- Multiplication and Division: Interpreting products and quotients, solving word problems, applying properties of operations, and fluently multiplying and dividing within 100.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: Rounding to the nearest 10 or 100, adding and subtracting within 1000 using place value strategies, and multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of 10.
- Fractions: Understanding fractions as parts of a whole and as numbers on a number line, and comparing fractions by reasoning about their size.
- Measurement and Data: Telling time to the nearest minute, measuring liquid volumes and masses, drawing scaled picture graphs and bar graphs, and measuring lengths to halves and fourths of an inch.
- Geometry and Area: Recognizing area as an attribute of plane figures, counting unit squares, relating area to multiplication and addition, solving perimeter problems, and partitioning shapes into equal parts.
How StudyPug Helps West Virginia 3rd Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a multiplication word problem or cannot picture a fraction on a number line, StudyPug is there with a short video lesson that explains exactly that concept. Our grade 3 math help follows the same sequence West Virginia classrooms use, so the lesson a student watches tonight matches what was taught today. After each lesson, practice problems with instant feedback let students check their understanding right away.
Students who want to test themselves across the full course can try our math quiz for 3rd grade, which draws from all the WV CCR Standards strands covered in the course. If an answer is wrong, a step-by-step solution shows exactly where to improve, building confidence before the General Summative assessment.
Aligned to West Virginia 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is built from the WV College Career Ready Standards for 3rd grade math. Topics are organized to reflect the same strands West Virginia teachers follow - operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, fractions, measurement and data, and geometry - so families can be confident that what their child practices here matches what is expected in class. Students coming from the previous year can also review the WV Grade 2 math curriculum to fill any gaps before moving forward.
