Utah 8th Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with Utah's 8th grade math class. Our lessons cover every strand, from scientific notation to the Pythagorean Theorem.
About 8th Grade Utah math
Utah 8th grade math follows the Utah Core Standards, organized into strands covering number systems, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, and statistics and probability. Students work with irrational numbers, integer exponents, scientific notation, linear equations and systems, functions and their graphs, geometric transformations, similarity and congruence, the Pythagorean Theorem, volume formulas, and bivariate data analysis. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to every Utah Core standard for this grade.
- Number systems, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, and statistics and probability

Utah 8th Grade Math Topics
- The Number System: Rational and irrational numbers, decimal expansions, rational approximations of irrational numbers, and locating them on a number line.
- Expressions and Equations: Integer exponent properties, square and cube roots, scientific notation, operations with numbers in scientific notation, linear equations in one variable, and systems of simultaneous linear equations.
- Functions: Definition of a function, comparing functions represented in different forms, linear functions and their graphs, modeling linear relationships, and analyzing graphs qualitatively.
- Geometry: Rotations, reflections, and translations; congruence and similarity of two-dimensional figures; dilations using coordinates; angle relationships with parallel lines and transversals; proofs and applications of the Pythagorean Theorem; distance in the coordinate plane; and volumes of cones, cylinders, and spheres.
- Statistics and Probability: Scatter plots for bivariate measurement data, patterns of association, fitting a straight line to data, using linear models in context, and two-way tables for categorical data.
How StudyPug Helps Utah 8th Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a concept like slope, systems of equations, or geometric transformations, StudyPug lets them go back to the exact lesson they need. Each topic is broken into short video lessons followed by practice problems with step-by-step solutions. You can review 8th grade math notes or test your understanding with an 8th grade math quiz whenever you are ready.
If your child needs to revisit earlier skills before tackling 8th grade content, the ut grade 7 math curriculum is also available on StudyPug, making it easy to fill gaps without switching platforms.
Aligned to Utah 8th Grade Math Curriculum
Every StudyPug lesson for this course maps directly to the Utah Core Standards for 8th grade math. From number systems and scientific notation in the fall to statistics and probability at the end of the year, the content your child sees on StudyPug matches what their teacher is covering in class, so practice time is never wasted on topics that are not tested.
