About 5th Grade Utah math
Utah follows the Utah Core Standards, organized into strands covering operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, fractions, measurement and data, and geometry. In 5th grade, students work on decimal place value, multiplying and dividing fractions, volume measurement, and graphing on a coordinate plane. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to every Utah Core Standards strand for this grade.
- Strands: operations and algebraic thinking, base ten numbers, fractions, measurement and data, and geometry
- Video lessons for every 5th grade Utah math topic
- Practice problems and step-by-step explanations for each concept
- Content aligned to the Utah Core Standards for 5th grade math

UT 5th Grade Math Topics
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Writing and evaluating numerical expressions with parentheses, brackets, and braces; generating two numerical patterns and graphing ordered pairs on a coordinate plane.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: Understanding place value relationships, multiplying by powers of 10, reading and comparing decimals to thousandths, rounding decimals, multiplying multi-digit whole numbers, and performing all four operations with decimals.
- Number and Operations - Fractions: Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, multiplying fractions and mixed numbers, interpreting fractions as division, scaling with multiplication, and dividing unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
- Measurement and Data: Converting units within a measurement system, displaying fractional measurement data on line plots, and understanding and measuring volume including real-world volume problems.
- Geometry: Using a coordinate system with perpendicular axes, graphing points in the first quadrant, and classifying two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on their properties.
How StudyPug Helps UT 5th Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a 5th grade math concept - whether it is adding fractions with unlike denominators or calculating the volume of a rectangular prism - StudyPug lets them go back to the exact lesson they need. Our grade 5 math help follows the Utah Core Standards strand by strand, so students always find content that matches what their teacher is covering in class.
Practice problems with step-by-step explanations help students check their understanding after watching a lesson. If your child wants to gauge where they stand before a test, the grade 5 math practice test gives them a quick, focused review across the key topics assessed at this grade level.
