7th Grade ELA in South Carolina

South Carolina 7th grade English follows the SC College Career Ready Standards, which set clear expectations for reading, writing, speaking, and language skills. Students in Grade 7 read and analyze both literary and informational texts, write arguments and narratives, and continue building grammar and vocabulary knowledge.

Reading and Literary Analysis

In 7th grade, South Carolina students deepen their reading skills by analyzing how authors use structure, point of view, and word choice to develop meaning. Students compare texts across genres and examine how themes develop throughout a story or article.

Writing in 7th Grade

Writing instruction at the 7th grade level focuses on argument writing, informational writing, and narrative writing. Students learn to support claims with evidence, organize ideas clearly, and revise their work for style and correctness.

Grammar and Vocabulary
