North Carolina 3rd Grade Math Topics

North Carolina 3rd grade math covers a wide range of foundational concepts aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study Math standards. Students begin developing fluency with multiplication and division, explore fractions as numbers, and build skills in measurement, geometry, and data.

Multiplication and Division

A major focus of 3rd grade math in North Carolina is understanding multiplication and division. Students learn to interpret products of whole numbers, use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems, and apply properties of operations as strategies. They also work toward fluently multiplying and dividing within 100 and solving two-step word problems using all four operations.

Fractions
