MN 7th Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with Minnesota's 7th grade math expectations, from ratios and proportional relationships to geometry, statistics, and probability.
About 7th Grade Minnesota math
Minnesota follows the Minnesota Academic Standards for Mathematics, organized around interconnected strands. In 7th grade, students work on ratios and proportional relationships, operations with rational numbers, expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics and probability. StudyPug provides video lessons, step-by-step examples, and practice problems matched to every strand so students can get unstuck and move forward with confidence.
- Strands: ratios and proportional relationships, rational number operations, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics and probability
- Video lessons and worked examples for every 7th grade math topic
- Practice problems with step-by-step solutions aligned to Minnesota Academic Standards
- Lessons accessible on any device, any time, so your child can study at their own pace

MN 7th Grade Math Topics
- Ratios and Proportional Relationships: Computing unit rates with fractional ratios, recognizing and representing proportional relationships, and solving multistep ratio and percent problems.
- Rational Number Operations: Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing rational numbers, including work on the number line and real-world problem solving with all four operations.
- Expressions and Equations: Applying properties of operations to linear expressions with rational coefficients, rewriting expressions, solving multi-step problems with positive and negative rational numbers, and constructing simple equations and inequalities.
- Geometry: Scale drawings, constructing geometric shapes, cross-sections of three-dimensional figures, circle formulas, angle relationships, and area, volume, and surface area of two- and three-dimensional figures.
- Statistics and Probability: Drawing inferences from random samples, comparing two populations using measures of center and variability, and finding probabilities of simple and compound events using models, lists, tables, and tree diagrams.
How StudyPug Helps MN 7th Grade Math Students
When your child gets stuck on a concept like proportional relationships or rational number operations, StudyPug lets them go back to exactly the lesson they need. Each topic is broken into short video lessons followed by practice problems with step-by-step solutions, so students can work through difficulties on their own schedule. You can explore our grade 7 math help to see the full range of topics available.
Students who want to check their understanding before a test can use the 7th grade math quiz to identify gaps and focus their review time on the strands that need the most attention.
