About 5th Grade Minnesota math

- Number and Operations - Fractions: Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators including mixed numbers; solve fraction word problems; interpret fractions as division; multiply fractions and whole numbers by fractions; interpret multiplication as scaling; divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
- Measurement and Data: Convert measurement units within a system; create line plots with fractional measurements; recognize volume as an attribute of solid figures; count unit cubes to measure volume; relate volume to multiplication and addition.
- Geometry: Define a coordinate system using perpendicular number lines; graph and interpret points in the first quadrant; understand attribute relationships among categories of two-dimensional figures; classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
