About 2nd Grade Idaho math

Idaho follows the Idaho Content Standards for Mathematics, organizing 2nd grade work across number sense, operations, measurement, data, and geometry. Students build fluency with addition and subtraction, understand place value into the hundreds, measure lengths with appropriate tools, work with money and time, read graphs, and explore shapes and equal shares.   • Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Solving one- and two-step word problems using addition and subtraction within 100, building fluency within 20, working with odd and even numbers, and using arrays to understand repeated addition.
  • Number and Place Value: Understanding hundreds, tens, and ones in three-digit numbers, counting and skip-counting within 1000, reading and writing numbers in multiple forms, comparing three-digit numbers, and adding and subtracting within 1000 using place value strategies.
  • Measurement and Data: Measuring lengths with appropriate tools, estimating in inches, feet, centimeters, and meters, comparing lengths, solving word problems with measurement, telling time to the nearest five minutes, working with coins and dollar bills, and representing data in picture graphs and bar graphs.
  • Geometry: Recognizing and drawing shapes by their attributes, partitioning rectangles into equal-size squares, and dividing circles and rectangles into equal shares.
