HI 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with Hawaii's 3rd grade math class. Lessons and practice problems cover every strand taught in local schools, from multiplication to fractions and geometry.
About 3rd Grade Hawaii math
Hawaii follows the Hawaii Content Standards for mathematics, organized around Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations - Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. In 3rd grade, students build fluency with multiplication and division, develop fraction concepts, work with area and perimeter, and read scaled graphs. StudyPug provides video lessons, worked examples, and practice problems matched to every strand in this course.
- Strands: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry
- Video lessons taught step-by-step for every 3rd grade topic
- Practice problems and worked examples aligned to Hawaii Content Standards
- Progress tracking so you always know where your child stands
Curriculum topics by strand
Find lessons and practice for every topic, organized by strand and aligned to the Hawaii Content Standards for 3rd grade math.
Hawaii 3rd Grade Math Topics
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Interpreting products and quotients of whole numbers, solving multiplication and division word problems within 100, applying properties of operations, and identifying arithmetic patterns.
- Number and Operations in Base Ten: Rounding whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100, fluently adding and subtracting within 1000 using place value strategies, and multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of 10.
- Number and Operations - Fractions: Understanding unit fractions, representing fractions on a number line, explaining fraction equivalence, and comparing fractions by reasoning about their size.
- Measurement and Data: Telling time to the nearest minute, measuring liquid volumes and masses, drawing scaled picture and bar graphs, generating measurement data with rulers, and understanding area measurement including relating area to multiplication.
- Geometry: Recognizing shared attributes of shapes, understanding categories of quadrilaterals, solving perimeter problems, and partitioning shapes into equal parts expressed as unit fractions.
How StudyPug Helps Hawaii 3rd Grade Math Students
When your child gets stuck on a concept like area models or fraction number lines, they can go straight to the matching lesson on StudyPug and work through a clear, step-by-step explanation before trying practice problems. Our grade 3 math help is organized so students can move at their own pace and revisit any topic as often as they need.
You can also use our math quiz for 3rd grade to check understanding across the Hawaii Content Standards strands and spot any gaps before they become bigger problems later in the year.
Aligned to Hawaii 3rd Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson on StudyPug is built around the Hawaii Content Standards for 3rd grade mathematics, covering the same Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Base Ten, Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry skills that teachers work through in class. If your child has already completed 2nd grade, you can also revisit the HI grade 2 math curriculum to fill in any foundational gaps before moving forward.
