FL 6th Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with Florida's 6th grade math curriculum, from rational numbers and algebra to geometry and data analysis.
About 6th Grade Florida math
Florida 6th grade math follows the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards, organized around number sense, algebraic reasoning, ratios and rates, geometric reasoning, and data analysis. Students extend their understanding of rational numbers, work with integers and absolute value, write and solve one-step equations and inequalities, apply ratio and percent relationships, find area and volume, and interpret statistical displays. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to every strand in this course.
- Strands: number sense, algebraic reasoning, ratios and rates, geometric reasoning, and data analysis
- Video lessons covering every 6th grade Florida B.E.S.T. math topic
- Practice problems and step-by-step solutions for each lesson
- Content aligned to Florida B.E.S.T. Standards for 6th grade math
Curriculum topics by strand
Lessons and practice for every 6th grade math strand, aligned to Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
Florida 6th Grade Math Topics
- Number sense and rational numbers: Extending understanding of numbers to define and plot rational numbers, interpret absolute value, work with integers, and compute with positive fractions and decimals including multi-step real-world problems.
- Algebraic reasoning: Translating written descriptions into algebraic expressions and inequalities, evaluating expressions using substitution and order of operations, applying properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions, and writing and solving one-step equations and inequalities.
- Ratios, rates, and percentages: Writing and interpreting ratios, determining unit rates, completing ratio tables, applying ratio relationships to percent problems, and solving real-world problems involving ratios and conversions within the same measurement system.
- Geometric reasoning: Plotting rational number ordered pairs in all four quadrants, finding distances on the coordinate plane, deriving area formulas for triangles and quadrilaterals, and solving problems involving volume of right rectangular prisms and surface area using nets.
- Data analysis and statistics: Formulating statistical questions, finding and interpreting mean, median, mode, and range, reading box plots and histograms, creating data displays, and describing how changes in data values impact measures of center and variation.
How StudyPug Helps Florida 6th Grade Math Students
When a student gets stuck on a Florida B.E.S.T. concept - whether it is plotting rational numbers on a number line, simplifying algebraic expressions, or reading a box plot - they can search for the exact topic and watch a focused video lesson before working through practice problems with step-by-step solutions. You can also try a 6th grade math quiz to check understanding across the full range of topics.
Because every lesson is available on demand, students can review a concept from earlier in the year, preview an upcoming unit, or work at their own pace without waiting for class time. This makes StudyPug a practical complement to daily classroom work and homework.
Aligned to Florida 6th Grade Math Curriculum
All StudyPug 6th grade math content is built around the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards, so the lessons, examples, and practice problems match exactly what Florida students are expected to learn. Families moving up from ma.5.ar.3.1 can carry forward the same aligned approach, and the same continuity extends into ma.7.dp.1.4 for the following year.
