AK 8th Grade Math Curriculum
Give your child the support they need to keep up with Alaska's 8th grade math curriculum. Every strand is covered with clear lessons and guided practice built around what their class is actually teaching.
About 8th Grade Alaska math
Alaska 8th grade math follows the Alaska Mathematics Standards, covering number systems, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, and statistics and probability. Students work with rational and irrational numbers, integer exponents, scientific notation, linear equations, systems of equations, transformations, the Pythagorean Theorem, volume formulas, and bivariate data analysis. StudyPug provides video lessons and practice problems aligned to every one of these strands.
- Strands: The Number System, Expressions and Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability
- Video lessons for every 8th grade math topic in the Alaska Mathematics Standards
- Practice problems, step-by-step explanations, and worked examples for each strand
- Content aligned to Alaska Mathematics Standards for Grade 8

AK 8th Grade Math Topics
- The Number System: Rational and irrational numbers, decimal expansions, rational approximations, and locating irrational numbers on a number line.
- Expressions and Equations: Integer exponent properties, square and cube roots, scientific notation, slope, linear equations in one variable, and systems of simultaneous linear equations.
- Functions: Defining functions, comparing functions in different representations, linear functions and the equation y = mx + b, modeling linear relationships, and analyzing graphs qualitatively.
- Geometry: Rotations, reflections, and translations; congruence and similarity; dilations and coordinates; angle relationships with parallel lines and triangles; the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse; distance in a coordinate system; and volumes of cones, cylinders, and spheres.
- Statistics and Probability: Scatter plots, patterns of association, fitting a line to bivariate data, interpreting slope and intercept in context, and two-way tables for categorical data.
How StudyPug Helps Alaska 8th Grade Math Students
When your child gets stuck on a concept like solving systems of equations or applying the Pythagorean Theorem, they can pull up a focused video lesson that walks through the problem step by step. After watching, they can move straight into practice problems to check their understanding. You can explore 8th grade math notes to see how the content is organized before getting started, or let your child jump in with an 8th grade math quiz to find the gaps they need to work on first.
StudyPug lets students move at their own pace, revisiting any lesson as many times as they need. That flexibility makes it easy to keep up during a busy school week or to catch up after a difficult unit.
Aligned to Alaska 8th Grade Math Curriculum
Every lesson and practice problem on StudyPug is built around the Alaska Mathematics Standards for 8th grade. Whether your child is working through the Number System, Functions, or Geometry strand, the content maps directly to what their Alaska school is teaching, so nothing covered in class falls outside what StudyPug supports. If you want to see how 8th grade builds on earlier work, the AK grade 7 math curriculum page shows the prior-year standards.
